Several questions, however, are raised by their presentation. Clinical and objective criteria for failure, and progression of success are not clearly defined. The authors state four patients had repeat bronchoscopy and persistent organisms were seen. Were these the patients that had relapses? The authors state that 90% of evaluable patients had a satisfactory response to inhaled pentamidine. This statement appears to be questionable if three patients had progression of disease...
