Abstract

Femoral neck fracture (FNF) is the most common type of hip fracture accounting for more than 50% of hip fractures. Approximately 70% of FNFs are categorized as displaced and require surgery, typically with total hip arthroplasty (THA). For the foreseeable future in Asia, the number of hip fractures (2018: 1.12MM, 2050: 2.56MM) and associated costs (2018: $9.5B USD, 2050: $15B USD) are expected to grow substantially. Currently, there are no systematic reviews published comparing differences between hemiarthroplasty (HA) and dual-mobility THA for the treatment of displaced FNFs.
