Abstract

Piecewise multiaffine (PMA) controller design is straightforward, as it is possible to design a controller based on a desired close-loop plant model. The inherent robustness and simplicity involved in the design of PMA controllers, make it an attractive control scheme. PMA model based control of dynamic systems offers a rich variety of design alternatives. This paper aims at showing the advantages to use PMA models for nonlinear control. Thus, (a) a case of Nonlinear Damping for static reference signal and (b) a case of Limit-Cycle induction for dynamic reference signal so that tracking is greatly improved, are presented. The dynamic behaviour of the controlled system will be totally determined by the nature of the nonlinear surface induced by the PMA model.
