Abstract

Matrix panels with excellent drive capability are fabricated by using a hot-pressed PLZT (7.9/70/30) ceramic plate. The matrix panel is 24×32 mm2 in area and 200 µm in thickness. On each surface, 30 transparent stripe electrodes are constructed perpendicular to the other face. For the transparent electrodes, sputtered indium tin oxide is used. To drive the device, the two improved means are found effective. One is a charge control method capable of controlling gray scale, and the other is disturbance rejection by bias field. The ITV image is received and displayed at 10∼15 frames/sec at 200 V. This development brings the flat-panel display a step closer to realization.
