Abstract
Equilibrium distributions of the four plutonium oxidation states can be obtained from their oxidation-reduction potentials. These distributions are used to develop comprehensive, balanced disproportionation equations. The equations are used to predict combinations of the Pu oxidation number and the solution pH that render local maxima in the fractions of trivalent and hexavalent plutonium. The maxima are characterized by the solution pH and the Pu oxidation number.
