Abstract

SOME cases of lead poisoning from domestic cold water supplies have been described1,2 and in a study of the lead content of water in Glasgow, where many older buildings have lead plumbing, a significant correlation was found between the length of lead pipe, the water lead content and blood lead of individuals resident in properties with lead plumbing3. In the following experiments a sample of old domestic lead piping was obtained to examine the effects of various factors on the relative plumbosolvencies of waters from various towns.
