Abstract
This paper describes the conceptual basis of an inter-organisational Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for integrated order processing in dynamic business networks. First of all, current constraints of collaborative order processing in business networks are identified. Based on this an innovative inter-organisational information system is specified, which enables integrated order processing as well as collaborative enterprise application integration by the singular connection of network partners to a web platform. Subsequently, four main components of the information system are outlined: an holistic functional reference model of order processing in business networks, semantically dominant data and process standards, a methodology of coordination and an innovative business model. The paper concludes with a discussion of alternative scenarios of realisation for the inter-organisational ERP system.
