Abstract

Introduction: Mastalgia is a common presenting complaint, reported in up to 50% of women attending breast clinics. It impacts significantly on the patients life, but is rarely a symptom of cancer. In the current climate of GP breast referrals requiring review within two weeks should patients with primary mastalgia be treated with the same urgency? We describe our experiences with breast pain referrals in this prospective audit.
