Abstract
In a traditional English pub, tucked away behind Clerkenwell Road, punters don't usually expect to hear an evening of cancer talks alongside their pint. On Wednesday May 25, 2016, however, a sold out event with the intriguing title of Playing Where's Wally with Cancer took over the upstairs of The Crown Tavern to participate in the annual Pint of Science festival. The festival, brainchild of Praveen Paul and Michael Motskin, began in 2013 with 45 events across three English cities, and has grown in size and popularity since. In 2016, the festival has spread into Canada, South Africa, and Austria. 1000 speakers were expected in the UK alone. The festival's cause is a worthy one: to encourage scientific exchange outside of an academic or clinical environment; to enable a scientist and a layman to understand one another. What better environment for such an understanding to begin than at your local pub?
