Abstract

The research in automated highway systems (AHS) is gaining attention within the research fields of intelligent transportation systems. Based on the PATH AHS architecture, when a follower wants to change lanes, it needs to use split maneuvers first. A change within platoons maneuver can improve the efficiency of a lane change maneuver. However, platoon lane change (PLC) maneuvers are needed in some situations for an entire platoon to change lanes, but little research focuses on this topic. In this paper, we describe three PLC maneuvers and we use SmartAHS to simulate them.
