Abstract

The cis ligands (C 6H 5) 2P[B 10H 10C 2]PRR′ (R = R′ = C 6H 5, NME 2 F; R = NMe 2, R′ = F) and [Me 2N] 2P[B 10H 10C 2] PRR′ (R = R′ = C 6F 5; R = NMe 2, R′ = F) form chelates with platinum(II) of the type [PtCl 2(ligand)]. These complexes have been characterized by infrared 1H, 19F, and 31P NMR spectroscopy and by element analyses. The predicted order of trans influences for the various donors is P(C 6H 5) 2 > P(C 6F 5) 2 > P(NMe 2) 2 > P(F)NMe 2 > PF 2 whereas the cis influence is P(C 6F 5) 2 > P(F)NMe 2 > P(C 6H 5) > P(F)NMe 2 > P(C 6H 5) 2 > P(NMe 2) 2.
