Abstract
This reaction represents an interesting example of a direct C-H bond functionalization in aromatic rings. Beside the interesting mechanism, it possesses a significant synthetic value, as it allows a simple one-step preparation of various (Z)-cinnamic acids and their esters, as well as their aryl derivatives, which are useful synthetic intermediates. This method displays a relatively broad applicability and good compatibility with functional groups.
