Platinum bis-acetylide complexes with the 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridyl ligand

Abstract

Abstract [Pt(Me 2 bipy)Cl 2 ] (Me 2 bipy = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine) and HC⁡CC 6 H 4 -4-R react in the presence of diisopropylamine and Cul as catalyst to give the platinum bis-acetylides [Pt(Me 2 bipy)(C⁡CC 6 H 4 -4-R) 2 ] R = H, Me, NO 2 . Initial spectroscopic, electrochemical and reactivity studies are presented.
