Abstract

The idea that anucleate platelets display autonomous migration has long been viewed with skepticism. Gaertner etal. provide invivo evidence that platelets undergo active migration at sites of thrombus formation and in inflamed liver sinusoids. Integrin-dependent migration allows platelets to scavenge and bundle fibrin-bound material, including intravascular bacteria.
