Abstract
In this paper the criterion based on the notch tangential stress and the volumetric approach has been analysed and improved. Moreover, the impact on pipes under internal pressure is modelled by a notch in a mixed mode fracture (I+II). The defect represented by a blunt notch in the pipe under internal pressure has been considered and an elastic-plastic finite element method is applied to this survey. From the stress distribution constraints identified on the boot and direction given to a critical load, the critical effective distance and the critical effective tangential stress are characterized. Indeed, the critical effective distance is practically similar to the extent of the plastic zone observed in the direction of bifurcation.
