Abstract

In presenting this subject only procedures of known value for repair of the various deformities will be given, in accord with my experience at the Newark Eye and Ear Infirmary. No attempt will be made to tabulate the numerous operations recommended in textbooks on plastic surgery. The wide scope of the subject will necessitate limitation to the more common nasal deformities without discussion of minor cosmetic repairs, the syphilitic nose or complete loss of the nose. Plastic surgery of the external nose may be divided into two main classes: (1) correction of nasal deformities in which all the normal elements of the nose are present but not in their proper position; (2) correction of nasal deformities in which some portion of the nose is absent.
