Abstract

A combined plastic membrane hydralazinium (Hz) selective electrode was constructed from a disposed combined glass electrode. The glass bulb was removed and a plastic membrane containing Hz–reineckate ion pair, as exchanger, was glued to a polyethylene cap fixed in place of the glass bulb. The electrode exhibited average calibration graph slope of (49.1 mV)/(Hz concentration grade) at 25 °C and high selectivity for Hz against several inorganic cations. The electrode was employed to determine the solubility product of the ion pair and as a sensor for potentiometric determination of HzCl by potentiometric titration.
