Abstract
A theoretical description of the formation of concavity at the upper end of the work piece at the beginning of the piercing process is obtained. The established analytical dependences make it possible to calculate the maximum depth of the resulting concavity. The high accuracy of the calculated data is confirmed by comparison with known experimental data.
