Abstract

Extramedullary plasmacytomas are rare neoplasms. Seventy-five to 85% ofthese tumors occur in the upper respiratory tract, oral cavity, and conjunctiva. Of the 10% found in the gastrointestinal tract, 56% were found in the small or large intestine, 30% in the stomach, and the remainder in the duodenum and rectum.] In 1978, Scott et al. surveyed the literature and found 66 cases of gastric plasmacytomas. Since then, 32 additional cases have been reported.• 4 We report a case of gastric plasmacytoma diagnosed by endoscopically obtained biopsy material on which immunohistopathologic techniques were utilized to support the diagnosis.
