Abstract

Rationale: Unacylated ghrelin (UnAG) is an emerging modulator of skeletal muscle metabolic pathways with reported anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and insulin-sensitizing actions in rodent healthy and disease models. In chronic disease experimental conditions, sustained UnAG administration was reported to normalize low muscle mass. Potential associations between UnAG and muscle mass in humans remain however undefined.
