Abstract

A comparison of techniques to evaluate plasma renin-angiotensin levels is made. The rat bioassay method for angiotensin II is compared with the radioimmunoassay method for angiotensin I. Excellent correlation between both methods is demonstrated. Volunteers without known hypertension are evaluated by both methods. Patients with suspected renovascular hypertension are also evaluated. The advantages of the radioimmunoassay method are reported.
