Abstract

The results of numerically simulating a high-power plasma maser—the wideband microwave noise amplifier—are reported. The configuration and parameters of the device are chosen with a view to its possible future use for generating pulses with a duration of 3 ns and pulse frequency bandwidth of 0.3 to 2GHz. In the pulse-periodic mode, it is possible to generate radiation in a continuous range of 2 to 12GHz with an average pulse power of 20MWand pulse energy efficiency of 6%.
