Abstract

The purpose of this study is to propose a planting index assessing process which takes into account for the solar access environment to prevent from slow growth of garden plants and reduction of solar access onto the plants. Through preceding research analysis the improvement of landscape design process, the evaluation criteria and analysis method of the sunshine environment of garden plants were studied. Based on this, a planting index assessing process was developed and it can analyze the sunshine environment for a plant garden of an apartment complex in urban outdoor space. It was validated by comparing the program result and the actual positional characteristics of the planting zone, the growth status of each species, In addition, the applicability of the program was suggested. In this study, it was found that there is difference of plant growth depending on the sunshine environment by comparing the actual plant growth status and the program analysis result. Therefore, the solar access environment should be considered in landscape designs and it is necessary to use the planting index assessing process for accurate analysis of solar access environment.
