Abstract

This paper focuses on the development of a decentralized plantwide control concept for a real existing chemical plant via dynamic simulation and controllability analysis. The first step includes modelling the plant with the dynamic simulation package SPEEDUPTM. The model is validated using data from the existing process. A systematic approach is applied including heuristic methods in combination with controllability analysis. The results are compared with the existing control structure. Finally, a procedure is recommended for prediction of the dynamic behaviour of the material recycle.
