Abstract
OverviewPlant molecular biology researchin Mexico is concentratedin two insti-tutions: CINVESTAV (Center for Research and Advanced Studies) andUNAM (Mexico’s National University). Plant biology research at CIN-VESTAV is carried out at its Irapuato Unit. The primary UNAM groupsare located at Cuernavaca (Biotechnology Institute, Nitrogen FixationResearchCenter) andMexicoCity (Facultadde Qu´imica). Other institu-tions that carry outplant biologyresearchincludetheCenter of Scientif-ic Research of Yucatan (CICY), University of Michoacan, Postgraduate´College, and CIMMYT. The state universities of Aguascalientes andPuebla are currently establishing research groups in plant biology.
