Abstract

Initial research on plant ion channels had extensively used electrophysiology to understand the calcium (Ca2+) transport mechanism of plants. They were divided into three main categories depending on the membrane polarization state. The molecular identity of slow vacuolar (SV) channel has been proven to be encoded by the two-pore channel 1 (TPC1) gene. Research done over the years combined with the crystal structure of TPC1 has shed significant light on the working of this channel.KeywordsDACCHACCVICCTPC1SVCICR
