Abstract

Natural products of microbial and plant origin which exhibit plant growth regulating activities are reviewed. Phytohormones such as auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins, abscisic acid and ethylene are not included. The review only surveys low molecular weight compounds that have been chemically characterized and have been reported to induce regulatory responses in plants. The chemical structures, the occurrence and physiological activities of these endogenous plant growth regulators are represented.
