Abstract

ABSTRACT THE rainfall properties of drop size and spatial distribution are important factors in infiltration rate and splash detachment. Interception by plant canopy can transform rainfall properties. In this paper, interception processes are dimensionally analyzed. Relationships between properties of rainfall measured under plant canopy and dimensionless rainfall and canopy descriptors are reported. Significance of transformations to soil erosion processes is discussed.
