Abstract

The present communication reports plant biomass and net production of Terminalia tomentosa Wight et Arn. growing at Chitarimata forest block in Bansi forest range, 112 km east of Udaipur (24° 15′N and 74° 25′ E). The plant exerts clear positive linear correlations between CBH (circumference at breast height) and number of growth rings and tree height, while bole biomass, total above ground plant biomass and leaf area show with CBH, orthogonal polynomial second degree curve. Net above ground biomass in this tree species has been found to be 3.24 × 10 3 kg/ha. A peak in the average increment in non-photosynthetic above ground biomass is observed at 33-38 growth ring period. The ratio of leaf dry weight: leaf area has been observed to be 33.30 mg/cm 2 while the ratios between shoot net production: leaf weight and leaf area are 0.59 g/g and 264 g/m 2 respectively.
