Abstract

General practitioner training should be extended to four years to allow trainees an extra 12 months in general practice placements, the Royal College of General Practitioners has recommended. In evidence to the Medical Programme Board of Medical Education England, the college proposes that GP trainees should spend 24 months in general practice placements rather than the current 12 months.
