Abstract

Problems of price formation, by virtue of their importance for the successful functioning of the economic mechanism, enjoy the constant attention of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Soviet government. The "Basic Directions of Development of the USSR National Economy between 1976 and 1980," adopted by the Twenty-fifth Congress of the CPSU, envisage "the implementation of measures for the further improvement of wholesale prices and rates. Raising the role of prices as an incentive for the acceleration of scientific-technical progress, for the production of up-to-date products of higher quality, and for the rational use of material resources."
