Abstract

The book is an attractively bound volume of 290 pages with 91 references and a useful appendix listing organizations concerned with crippled children. It purports to provide "specific and practical information, not readily available, for the construction and operation of specific facilities for physically handicapped children." The book is divided into three parts. The first part is concerned with planning schools for crippled children. Five chapters comprise this large section which represents approximately two-thirds of the book. It concerns the definition of a hospital school and covers the preliminary planning, as well as planning the building equipments and operation. Part Two consists of 42 pages and is devoted to planning nonresidential schools and treatment facilities for crippled children. Part Three is comprised of 51 pages describing the planning of camping facilities for crippled children.
