Abstract

Dear Caroline I’m in my penultimate year of medical school and have to start planning my elective. Many of my friends want to go abroad, and some of them are looking into remote placements in the developing world. My problem is that I don’t want to stray that far and would much rather stay in the United Kingdom for my elective. I find flying stressful and the idea of travelling to some far flung corner of the world is terrifying. But will I get a lower grade on my elective assignment if I do an elective in the UK?
