Abstract

A community of several hundred physicists [1, 2] propose a new antiproton cooler ring "SuperLEAR" to be built at CERN. The momentum range should be extended from the present possibilities at LEAR (⩽2 GeV/c) to higher momenta ⩽12 GeV/c. The physics program foreseen includes charmonium and charmed hybrid spectroscopy, light meson spectroscopy, heavy flavour in hyperon-antihyperon production, and charm interaction with nuclei.Threshold production studies have the advantage of only a few partial waves contributing to the reaction process and thus keeping the interpretation as simple as possible in the presence of the complex hadronic interaction. The hyperon-antihyperon production is an advantageous research field at SuperLEAR. Of special interest appears to be the bar-ΛcΛc production because of its heavy flavour content and the possibility of a comparison to the light bar-ΛΛ production. In this contribution emphasis will be given to features of the bar-ΩΩ pair production.
