Abstract
(Abstracted from Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol 2018;222:102–108) Maternity care in hospitals has contributed to significantly reduced maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates over the latter half of the 20th century. Hospital care allows for prompt intervention and care that may not be available outside the hospital.
