Abstract

Baltimore—Since astronomers reported the first planet outside the solar system 4 years ago, the pace of discovery has quickened to an average of two every 3 months over the last year. At a workshop here last week, observers turned up the pace another notch with reports and rumors of several new planets and planetlike objects, including one around a star that is a virtual twin of the sun.
