Abstract

The present work deals with the study of the propagation of plane waves in a homogeneous isotropic couple stress generalized thermoelastic solids. It is found that, for one dimensional model of isotropic couple stress generalized thermoelastic solids, there exists two types of longitudinal waves namely, Longitudinal wave (P-wave) and thermal wave (T-wave) and a transverse wave. The phase velocity, attenuation coefficients, specific loss and penetration depth are computed numerically and phase velocity and attenuation coefficient is depicted graphically. In addition, we construct the fundamental solutions of system of differential equations in the theory of couple stress generalized thermoelastic solids in case of steady oscillations in terms of elementary functions. Some properties of fundamental solution are also established. Some special cases are also derived.
