AbstractThe plane constrained shear problems of a single crystal strip with one and two active slip systems are considered within the continuum dislocation theory. Analytical solutions are found for single slip and symmetric double slip systems which exhibit the energetic and dissipative thresholds for dislocation nucleation, the Bauschinger translational work hardening and the size effect.
