Abstract

This paper presents design and development of a light weight and low profile microstrip antenna array meant for a ground based surveillance radar. The array has been configured to form shaped and narrow beams in elevation and azimuth planes, respectively. Array has performed satisfactorily producing a minimum gain of 24 dB and sidelobe level of -25 dB in azimuth plane and shaped beam coverage beyond 30° in elevation plane over a 15% bandwidth in L-band.
