Abstract

The design and wideband performance of a planar meander monopole antenna in the mobile phone is presented. By using parasitic strips and a sleeve feed, wideband impedance characteristics are achieved. A measured impedance bandwidth for VSWR <formula formulatype="inline" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"><tex Notation="TeX">$\,\leq$</tex></formula> 3 of about 101.7% ranging from 440 to 1350 MHz is obtained. It is very suitable for DVB-H, LTE 13, GSM850, and GSM900 applications in the mobile phone.
