Abstract
Field and angular dependencies are investigated for the planar Hall effect in ferromagnetic cobalt films on silicon substrates. An angular period doubling is observed with crossover from high magnetic fields to low ones. In intermediate magnetic fields, the angular dependence symmetry with respect to abscissa axis breaks down and a hysteresis behavior reveals both in field and angular dependencies. Comparison between theory and experiment makes it possible to determine the easy axis direction and the anisotropy field.
