Abstract

Propagation of a p-polarized electromagnetic (EM) wave across an achiral/chiral (ACC) interface is considered for examining beam profiles and image transmission via the use of Fresnel coefficients (FCs). Accordingly, first the purely achiral p-polarized propagation is introduced, and thereafter chirality is added to the second medium to derive the FCs. Anomalies in the reflection and transmission behavior (such as emergence or absence of Brewster effect, total internal reflection (TIR), evanescent modes and so on) are examined via simulation. Finally, first-order material dispersion is introduced in the second medium, and the propagation of a 2D image across the interface is examined.
