Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the barriers to the adoption of reverse logistics (RL) and to develop action plans to mitigate them as a way to minimize the construction and demolition waste (CDW) produced by the large multinational construction industries (CI), considering the impact these barriers have on the global construction community. A systematic literature review was conducted to identify barriers and RL practices with regard to CDW. The parameters under question were validated by six experts, and a survey methodology was applied and evaluated using structural equation modeling. These findings contribute to the literature and organizational practice because understanding these barriers is necessary to address the barriers that negatively influence the implementation of RL in the CI.
