Abstract
The paper attempts to analyze plagiarism prevention trends in research and discusses the various causes of plagiarism and why students and research scholars carry out plagiarism. This article highlights various initiatives taken by the University Grant Commission and governments like UGC CARE, Shodhganga, Shodh Shuddhi etc. to maintain the standard of research. The level of plagiarism as quantified by the UGC (2018) for plagiarism is also discussed here. The state-wise analysis of Anti- Plagiarism Tools used by the Indian universities was also analysed. The finding of the study shows that 88.9% of the Indian universities are using Anti- Plagiarism tools to maintain academy integrity in higher education. On the basis of the finding, it is suggested that plagiarism awareness programmes should be organised at university level, departmental level and MOOCs level also.
