Abstract
Energy consumption is one of the most important factors to consider in the design of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Many research works have been focused on lowering the transmission of the raw data by adopting lossy compression methods in order to improve energy efficiency. In this paper, we perform a thorough energetic assessment of lossy compression scheme in multi-hop wireless sensor network. We present an evaluation of multi-hop network which adopts Piecewise Linear Approximation methods and Minimum Transmission Energy routing approach. A comparative analysis aims to evaluate the performance of the performed configuration in terms of energy consumption using real-world sensor datasets.
