Abstract
This paper presents the results of a PIXE analysis study of aerosols in the Guangzhou region, paying particular attention to its seasonal behaviour. It has been shown that for most elements contained in aerosol samples, seasonal concentrations vary obviously for urban regions, but do not vary obviously for suburban regions. The pollution of Pb in the city, and of Cu in suburban regions has been interpreted. A comparison with Beijing has been made to show its local characteristics. It has been shown that for the ground surface elements elemental concentrations in aerosols are much lower in Guangzhou (southern city) than in Beijing (northern city).
