Abstract
In this work we report a technical method based on PIV, usually used in fluid dynamics, to measure velocity profiles of granular materials in silos and hoppers. The particles inside the hopper were filmed by a digital video camera. Finally, we measure the velocity profile of granular materials inside a quasi-two dimensional hopper and compare the data with some existing models.
