Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of SO 4 2 - ions on the pitting potential ( E pit) and critical pitting temperature (CPT) of high-entropy alloy Co 1.5CrFeNi 1.5Ti 0.5Mo 0.1 in chloride solutions. The results indicate that the values of CPT for the alloy in 0.1, 0.5, and 1 mol/L NaCl are 70, 60 and 60 °C, respectively; the values of E pit are linear with the logarithm of chloride concentrations at 70 and 80 °C; and the addition of SO 4 2 - ions to chloride solutions has a positive effect on both E pit and CPT as the ratio of SO 4 2 - /Cl − is higher than 0.5.
