Abstract
ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to examine in greater detail the Arctic Circle at the end of its first decade. Gaining more and better insight into the Arctic Circle’s own roles and significance is not just a useful contribution in its own right, but is also likely to shed fresh light on the Arctic conferencing and Arctic governance academic literature. Through an analysis of Arctic Circle assembly programmes and other materials, it is argued here that the Arctic Circle has emerged playing a multidimensional role on the world stage. Thus, the Arctic Circle’s importance is best understood from a range of different perspectives, the most apparent of which are articulated and discussed here.
