Abstract
During the Second World War, Pirot was annexed by the tsarist Bulgaria and Bulgarian Grammar was working at the time in Pirot. In the so far studies about the school which the author of this text had insight into, archive materials which are located in the Central state archive in Sofia were not used. The author has searched that source and presents some of the findings in this study. As for many Grammar School students studying was desirable continuation of education during the war times, the author researched the archive of Sofia University 'St. Kliment of Ohrid' in order to get insight into the number of Pirot students attending the University. The data from the reviewed documents were the basis for the author to deal with motives for a quite massive attendance of Bulgarian Grammar School in the period 1941- 1944. Possible reasons for lasting absence of more comprehensive research of Grammar School education in Pirot during the Second World War are being investigated.
